With the current state of the U.S. economy as well as the global economy, it’s no wonder that so many people around the world are looking for alternative ways to generate income. Many people from the corporate world that would never have considered network marketing or direct sales are running out of options and desperate for a way to put food on the table.
This of course is causing quite a stir in the mlm home business world. Many who have been in the industry for sometime are looking seeing an amazing opportunity with thousands of new distributors joining companies on a daily basis.
If you find yourself in a similar position looking for an opportunity to generate income from home then here are some things to consider.
You must understand that many companies and distributors in the industry have built their organizations on a lot of hype. Dream selling is unfortunately something that has become the norm. Many will ask you how you would like to earn $10,000 per month from home? How would that make you feel, how would you spend the money. But not many will actually tell you what it’s going to take to generate that sort of income including a time frame.
You must be careful in the industry not to make decisions based on emotion. You must clearly understand the math. The cost of a lead, the cost of a new distributor and how many new distributors you will need to earn that $10,000. You must calculate these numbers so that you know where you stand. If you are not doing these types of things then you are sailing a ship without a rudder.
If the person trying to recruit you has no idea of these numbers that I suggest that you look in another direction.

There will be those that say this is network marketing and all that you need to do is contact your warm market. They will say that this type of business building has been successful for a very long time. I would say that very few people actually make it to the top in this way. Some do, yes and make a lot of money in the process. But very few people are built in such a way that they can take the amount of rejection that you will face when building with only a warm market list.
Understanding lead generation and utilizing it will greatly increase your chances of success. Then you can see on paper exactly what you need to do.

What I’d really like to talk about today is the concept of a network marketing scam and what that really means. Well if you look up the word scam in Websters dictionary what you will find is the following.

Now I know that you already knew what the word meant, I just want to make everything absolutely clear here.
Many people out there look at the entire network marketing industry as a scam and I’m sure that each person has their own reasons for feeling that way. They may have a legitimate gripe with a a company. Or maybe that actually did get scammed. In other words they paid for something and did not receive what they paid for and were not given a promised refund. That is very possible.
That said, there are very legitimate companies in the industry that have been in business for 50 years. It seems that it would be pretty difficult to stay in business for such a length of time if one were truly a scam. I just wouldn’t happen.
If you are trying to determine whether the company that you are considering joining is a scam or not here are some things to do.
1. Do research on the management team or founders. Goolge truly knows all.
2. Call some people that you find on the internet and ask questions. Make sure that you don’t ask just 1 person, you want to speak to at least 3 or more. When doing your search, don’t just call the top 3 but go down through the pages of google so that you can speak to someone who maybe isn’t as successful as the top dogs. That way you get different perspectives.
3. Try out the product if it is consumable. Most will have a money back guarantee if you don’t like it.
4. Go to the company convention if you are able to.
5. Follow your gut.
The last one may seem a bit unconventional but I’m a big believer that your instincts are mostly correct, so if something just doesn’t feel right then listen to that. It may not even mean that the company is shady, it may just meant that it’s not right for you.
Understand that there are hundreds of network marketing companies out there that are completely legitimate, just do your due diligence and don’t make an emotional decision.

Some of you are very new to the whole mlm world. It can be a very confusing and frustrating endeavor when you are first getting started. There is so much information out there that many people wind up not taking any action but rather moving from program to program and system to system. I know this is true, because I found myself in the very same
dilemma when I got started in the business. Even after I had success I still found my self getting off track from time to time thinking that there was an easier and faster way to make my fortune.
Here are 5 tips to help you navigate the choppy ocean of mlm.
1. Set some very small and simple goals at first. $50 per month in income or something like that. the reason is that many times people set the big goals and when they have not reached them in a couple of months they become frustrated and move on to the next deal. By setting small goals and reaching them you will know that you are moving in the right direction.
2. Find 1 or 2 good mentors. People that have had success and are willing to show you how they have achieved that level of success. This does not have to be a one on one coaching situation although that would be best. It could be in the form of a program or blog where you get trained.
3. Learn how to market. One of the main reasons that people give up in the business is that they run out of warm market leads and/or are facing a lot of daily rejection. That can be a difficult pill for just about anyone to swallow. Especially when the rejection is coming from your warm market. One of the best skills that you can learn is lead generation. If you have lot’s of leads coming in on a daily basis. A certain percentage will sign with you, and the ones that say no won’t make you feel as bad because you know that you’ve got lot’s of new leads coming in every day.
4. Create a blog. If you really want to see a high level of success in your business it’s important for you to begin branding yourself. One of the easiest and best ways to do this is by creating a blog about you and what you do. You can share your experiences and thoughts with others who are in a similar situation. As you continue learning and add more tools to your toolbox. You can share the information and create better relationships.
5. Use a System. It’s important that when starting you start out the right way. By this I mean that you have a system in place that allows you to do a number of things. First it allows you to collect leads. Next it gives you the ability to generate income even if your prospects don’t join your primary business. This is key because it will give you a marketing budget. Finally you want a system that automates the training of your downline. There is no way for you to train every person joining your team one one one. By having a training platform in place this part becomes automated giving your team the training that it needs and giving you the time to focus on your leaders and on marketing.

As you get started with you MLM career I can’t even begin to convey the importance of getting some solid training. How you get started in the business can literally be the difference between losing money, being frustrated, quitting or having a legitimate business that gives you the type of lifestyle and income you’d hoped for and was the reason that you got started in the first place.
Now here is where I give you some straight talk. Mostly when you go online to websites/blogs and people are reviewing products and services it’s because they are an affiliate to either one or all of those recommended products and if you buy one, they make a commission. Now there is nothing wrong with that. In fact I would recommend that as you build your business you do exactly the same thing. It’s called affiliate marketing.
Having said that, it’s important that you actually use or believe in the product that you are recommending. That’s something that not all affiliate marketers do. Many affiliate marketers will simply find a product that has a nice commission and promote it, hoping that you will buy it.
I just want you to know that every product on this blog that you ever see me promote, I either use continually or have used in the past with solid results. If that’s not the case, I will tell you so flat out.
Now that we have that out of the way here are my recommendations for you to get some solid MLM Training.
OK, so at the top of my picks list is MLSP
This is a complete system that includes on-going training, tracking features, capture page creation and tons more. It was founded by 3 great guys whom I’ve had the privilege of spending time with in Vegas. I personally use this system each and every day and I only have the best things to say about it. MLSP will enable you to turn many of the people who say no to your primary business into income. This is a powerful concept that I definitely encourage you to adopt. I am an affiliate with MLSP along with using the system so if you try it out I will get paid, but I will also be there to help your personally.

One of the products that I actually offer as a part of the MLSP system is a product by a guy named Mike Dillard, called Magnetic Sponsoring. Now you may already be familiar with this product because it really changed our entire industry actually. Mike was actually one of the brains behind a concept called the funded proposal. This concept has allowed Mike to actually create an 8 figure business. That’s right, not 7 but 8 figures. That’s pretty impressive, considering that he did it in about 6 or 7 years. Needless to say that he knows what he’s doing and has also helped a number of other people achieve a tremendous amount of success as well. Here is the banner for Mike and Magnetic Sponsoring. The next system and person that I would recommend to you is Daegan Smith and his Maximum Leverage. Now just so you know, I’m not a paying member of Maximum Leverage, although I am on Daegans list and listen very carefully to the things that he says. If you visit his website and get on his list he will give you great content for free via video and his blog. Daegan has been around for a while and has become one of the mlm guru superstars. He’s the real deal and I recommend him as offering a very powerful training platform.

Finally I’d like to recommend to you. Mr. Jonathan Budd. This guy is really something else. At the time I’m writing this blog post I think Jonathan is something like 26years old and he’s already created a 7 figure business. He’s just one of those special guys that got it done. I had a the opportunity to hang with Jonathan a couple of years ago in Florida and he’s just really a great guy. He offers tons of value for free as well so just by visiting his site and opting into his list you will get some great nuggets for free. Now I’m not saying that these are the only mlm training systems that are legitimate on the internet. What I’m saying is that I believe with all my heart that these program for sure are great. Obviously my #1 pick is MLSP because it’s what I use every day, but I trust all of these guys to lead you in the right direction as well.
Whatever you do, please please please make sure that you get started with some kind of system. Why not visit all of these sites and see which one seems to be the best fit for you.
As far as actual systems that encompass everything I would choose MLSP, Mike Dillards Black Belt Recruiting or Jonathans system. Deagan is focused more strictly on Lead generation which is probably “The” most important skill for you to learn in your business. I’m just not sure if his course includes lead capture page creation or tracking software.
I hope you get that I’m not just sharing a bunch of crap with you. These systems and trainers are the best out there. Until I complete my own system these are the best. 
I hope this post helps you in some way shape or form. Even if you just get the free training from the sites mentioned above. I’m sure that you will gain tremendous value.

Ok, so it doesn’t matter if you you have been with your MLM for a long time or if you are just getting started. This information will be beneficial to you either way.

The reason is that regardless of where you are in your business, your ability to take your business to the next level completely depends on your lead flow. So how do you go about generating new leads for your business? There are several different methods actually. The first one is utilizing what is known as your warm market. That method has worked for a number of years and has actually created small fortunes for some. Personally I don’t feel that it’s the best way because it takes a very thick skin to absorb the amount of rejection that comes along with it and not want to quit the business.
The other and much more obvious way to generate a consistent flow of leads for your business is by advertising.
There are some things to think about from the beginning here.
First thing to think about is this.
Are you going to be advertising your products or will you be advertising your business opportunity.
There are two schools of thought here. I’ll give you both and give you some reasoning behind both.
1st – Leading with your product is the first one. The reasoning behind this is that in MLM there is a very high turnover rate. I mean that many people will get started in MLM and be gone within there first 120 days. There are many reasons for that but we’ll save that for another discussion. So the reasoning behind leading with your products is that if someone joins your company because they actually enjoy the product and would be purchasing it anyway, they have much more stickability. After they are a customer for sometime, you could then introduce them to the business opportunity. By building this way the concept is that you have a much more solid team.
2nd – Leading with your opportunity is the second one. The reasoning behind this is very simple. Most people out there in the industrialized world unfortunately are not completely happy with their lives. They wish they had more, they wish they made more money, they wish that they could keep up with the Jones’. It’s kind of sad when you think about it, but for the most part it’s true. Then you add into the mix a global recession. Many people during this time have lost their jobs and are really looking for an opportunity to help financially. These people have a strong need and so they have become a target for savvy marketers. This is why you are seeing such a massive influx of business opportunities and coaching programs all over the internet.
So there you have two very different approaches to building your mlm. I’m not saying that either way is right or wrong. Feel it out and see what makes more sense to you.
Now in either case you will still need to advertise either you business opportunity or your product/service.
There are literally hundreds of ways to advertise your MLM. However, the most successful people that I know really only utilize about 10 or so. These are the only ones that I will list here.
MLM Advertising Choices
1. PPC – Through Google, Yahoo, or MSN/Bing
2. Ezine Ads – Solo ads or buying access to other peoples newsletter subscriber lists
3. Voice Broadcasting – This will mostly work for option 2 above because voice broadcasting may not only be used business to business.
4. Media buys – Buying adspace on Websites
5. Social Media – Buying ads on Facebook Myspace or other social media channels.
6. Video Marketing – Creating informative videos that either teach or give insight into specific topics
7. Article Marketing – Creating unique content on specific topics and posting the content on article directories
8. Post Cards – Sending out post cards to business opportunity seekers
9. Blogging – Create a blog load it with unique and interesting content and then promote the content
10. Social Networking – Communicating with people through Facebook etc. and offer to help others achieve their goals thereby creating relationships or maybe even a tribe of your own.
Now I know that some of you are thinking that I left out a ton of stuff. Yes, there are lot’s of additional ways to advertise your mlm. Like I said though, the most successful people that I know in MLM right now are using the ways that I have listed right here. I’m talking about 7 figure and even 8 figure incomes here.
The order of these advertising mediums is pretty much the way that I would have it. For those that are just getting started I would consider #3 simply because learning google ppc can be costly and if that is a concern then voice broadcasting will be a much easier way to generate inexpensive leads very quickly. This can only be business to business but it is very effective.
